Parents

You've been there before...

Think about your early years in education. If you remember a drab rectangular building, nervous teachers and long, echoing hallways, flanked by overcrowded classrooms on either side, then your experience is among the majority worldwide.

In fact, the norms & regulations mandated in most countries, with regards to school buildings, teachers and administrators have remained virtually unchanged for many decades. The reason for this is that after World War II, Western governments searched for a new way to educate children that would allow adults to get to work, rebuilding their nations.

The resulting institutional form of education bares a stark resemblance to a distribution facility to which items are shipped, categorized, labeled and later sold in open markets with little or no changes. This is particularly evident in modern-day private schools, which house 1000 or more children, being taught through memorization techniques, and who acquire a very basic skill set by the end of their academic career.

Memorization in itself is a skill, not a learning method and the scribes, mathematicians, architects & engineers of ancient civilizations were not educated using these methods, yet they produced wonders of the world that have eluded the understanding of the greatest minds and most prolific thinkers to this very day.

This is no coincidence.

In 1956, Dr. Benjamin Bloom, an educational psychiatrist, developed a framework that illustrates the logical process of learning & reasoning. In the year 2,000, “Bloom’s Taxonomy” was revised by a panel of educational leaders into the formula on the right:

This is where we come in.

We dream up the projects and activities that guide future inventors, junior engineers, scientific thinkers & creative tinkerers to use the skills they learn in the classroom to produce cool and creative projects.

This is where learning takes a turn to practicality. This is where skills are forged, where minds are developed and where children learn to see the world differently - through the eyes of a mathematical, scientific mind.

In their love for experimenting, they’ll discover new ways of thinking, new materials to work with, more complex skills to master, and they will watch their very own ideas materialize.

You will see your children’s grades, self confidence and understanding of physics, science and mathematics grow with each fun & challenging PhySciMANICS project they complete.

The question of why an area of math or science is practiced will be answered every time your child performs an experiment, completes a project or gains a competitive, educational advantage over his or her peers, using a newly learned skill set.

Projects are illustrated in our bi-monthly booklets through step-by-step tutorials. Instructions will also be available, in video format, very soon.

Though we’ve done a great deal to assist your child in understanding each project, some may be too difficult for your child to complete on his or her own. For these and all projects, it is important that you supervise and assist your child to ensure that he or she completes each project safely.

All tools and materials should be available at your local hardware or stationery store.

We encourage you to continue facilitating your child’s learning & development and welcome you warmly to PHYSCIMANICS!

Sincerely,
PHYSCIMANICS
